Alfred Benny Blanton, Jr. was born
March 8, 1945
in Plainview, TX to A.B. Blanton, Sr. and Gladys (Booker) Blanton.
He was raised in Amarillo, Texas and attended Carver High School in Amarillo, TX. He attended Texas College in Tyler, Texas 1963-1965.
Alfred accepted Christ early in life and united with Morning Star Baptist Church, he later attended Grant Chapel AME Church and New Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Minister Jerry Cook.
Bro. Alfred Blanton was a member of the St. Matthew Grand Lodge of Texas A.F.A.M. Inc. He was also a member of Mary Elizabeth Grand Chapter. He helped establish the Lodge and Chapter in Palestine called The Pride in Palestine. He was a 32° Mason.
He married Linda Kennedy in Holy Matrimony.
Alfred left this earth on the Wings of Angels on
March 27, 2017
in Palestine, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. Blanton, Sr. and Gladys Blanton.
Loving survivors include his loving wife, Linda J. Blanton of Palestine, TX; daughter, Nicole Unique (Cyrus) Blanton-Johnson of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Laila Johnson; God daughters, Tiffney Wilkins of Houston, TX, Tangela Gilkey, Nakesia Washington of New Orleans, LA and Tawana Williams; one brother, Leonard Holley of Trinity, TX; three sisters, Shirley Coleman, Betty Houston and Eula Dozier, all of Trinity, TX; aunt, Elizabeth Brazier of Amarillo, TX; cousin, Peter Scott of Amarillo, TX. A host of other relatives and friends.
