Andrew Hopkins was born December 15, 1919 in the Hopewell Community in Crockett, Texas to Peter Hopkins, Jr. & Roxie Jones.
He was raised in Hopewell Community and attended school at Crockett Colored / Ralph J. Bunche/ Crockett High schools.
He furthered his education and graduated from Prairie View A&M with a Bachelors and Masters Degree. He was a dedicated Educator and Coach for many years.
He accepted Christ early in life and united with St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church
Mr. Hopkins passed away on June 1, 2015 in Crockett, TX.
He passed away on June 1, 105 at the age of 95 in Crockett, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie S. Hopkins; parents, Peter & Roxie Hopkins, Jr.; Brothers, Redeemer Hopkins, John A. Hopkins; sisters, Irene Johnson, Mildred David, Lillian Hopkins Alexander Hopkins and Dilliard Hopkins.
Loving survivors include: two sons, Andrew P. (Ann) Hopkins of Houston, Texas, Jeffrey W. (Dorian) Hopkins of Houston, Texas; five daughters, Iva V. Hopkins of Terrell, Texas, Iwilda N. (Allen) Coats, Tyler, Texas, Maria O. James of Desoto, Texas, Mariang O. (Jason) Creag, Tyler, Texas, Anita L. Hopkins, Tyler, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
