Life Reflections
Madea
A Life Dedicated To Her Family
Ms. Bertha Mae Carter
Bertha Mae Carter was born April 25, 1925 in Oakwood, Texas. She was the fourth of 10 children born to Claude and Ethel Carter.
Bertha Mae, affectionately known as "Madea", loved the Lord. At an early age, she accepted Him as her personal Savior and was baptized in her childhood church. She attended Rocky Mount Baptist Church, only to later unite with Lone Star Baptist Church. Eventually, she praised and worshiped at True Vine COXA Center.
Bertha attended school on Pine Top and Wildwood.
She loved working, gardening and providing for her family. In her early years, "Madea" worked at Vernon Calhoun Packing, Swift Packing, and Curtis Mathis. Despite being a blue collar worker, she left her mark as an entrepreneur.
Her famous quote later in life became, "Don't nobody boss me; my momma and daddy is dead and gone."
On Saturday, December 2, 2017, Bertha Mae Carter traded in her earthly fight for eternal life. She left her earthly body, saying goodbye to pain and suffering to be with her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Ethel Carter, a grandson, Marcus Island; her siblings, Eselma Carter, Willie Leroy Carter, James Henry Carter, Lucy Mae Powell, Mary Ethel Petty, Dore Lee Carter, Drothy Mae Malone, Ester Lee Carter and Claudine Forbes.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her faithful children, Aaron Alford of Dallas, Texas, George Carter (Ruby) of Fort Worth, Texas, Anthony Wayne Carter of Fairfield, Texas, Kennedy Dean Carter of Lancaster, Texas, Claudia Carter of Dallas, Texas, Gloria sweeny of Fairfield, Texas and Mary Vaughn of Dallas, Texas; a brother-in-law, Simon "Uncle Joe" Forbs, Sr. of Fort Worth, Texas, 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 9 great great-grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
