Jan 28, 1947 — Nov 1, 2015
On January 28, 1947 in Groveton, Texas, James Wilson and Jeanetta Bennett were blessed with a beautiful daughter, in which they named her Brenda Joyce Bennett. She is one of eleven children. She attended and graduated from G.W.
Carver High School in Groveton, Texas. She earned her nursing degree at St.
Phillips College in San Antonio, Texas. Upon receiving her nursing degree, she displayed her love and compassion for those in need. She has worked in numerous hospitals, clinics and medical facilities throughout the country.
Her most memorable places were NICU-Beaumont, TX, Naval Hospital Portsmouth Rheumatology and Naval Air Station Oceana Immunization Clinic. She was a member of the Rock Church of Virginia Beach for over 20 years where she served as a Deacon, a greeter, and participated in many various ministries (welcome booth, women's auxiliary, home visitations, in home bible study).
However her most rewarding ministry was decorating the house of prayer. She organized, arranged and prepared several events ranging from church conferences to annual/holiday events. She was known as a perfectionist for her gift. She believed that you should always give your best to God, in whatever you do. Matthew 6:33 was her favorite scripture "But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added until you."
