Celebrating The Spirit of Delia Rose Owens

On April 18, 1923, in Jones Prairie, Texas in Milam County, a wonderful, little girl was born to Dave Rose and Frances Turner-Rose.  She was named Delia.  Delia was the eighth child born to her parents.  She departed this earthly life on January 29, 2018 at 5:30 pm in Fort Worth, Texas.

She grew up in Jones Prairie until she moved to Cameron, and then to Temple, Texas.  While in Temple, she worked for Scott and White Hospital.  While working in Temple, she met Andrew "Baby" Owens.  After many years of dating, they were united in marriage.  Delia traveled the country and overseas with her husband for many years until she settled in Crockett, Texas.  To their union, two daughters were born.

Delia was a very strong believer in God.  She served as long as she could at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.  Before that membership, she served at Bethel Baptist Church.  Both in Crockett.

For many years, Delia worked for the McClendon, Tunstall, Brewer and Carter families.

Delia loved cooking, walking, gardening, watching television and spending time with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Andrew Owens; sisters and brothers, Anna perrymon, Annie Williams, Sarah Moore, Dave Williams, Dave Rose, Grant Rose, Levi Williams, and Walter Williams; Sisters-in-law, Alma McKee, Lela Sessions; Brothers-in-law, Willie Owens, Sr., Bud Woodruff, Irwin Armstrong and Oran McKee.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters:  Andrewnette Bell (Darryl) and Anna Marie Allen (James) of Fort Wrth, Texas; two grandchildren:  James Allen, Jr. and Kisa Romnique Allen of Fort Worth, Texas; two great grandchildren, Talia Allen of Fort Worth, Texas and Lynden James Allen of Grand Prairie, Texas;
two sisters, Frances Woodruff of Ranger, Texas and Henrietta Armstrong of Apple Valley, California; her nieces and nephews, Robbie Neal Lee of Houston, James Henry Owens, George Owens, Willie Owens, alll of Crockett, Texas, Luther Woodruff of Louisville, Kentucky, Berry Williams of Mexia, Texas, Jessie Owens, Alma Faye Williams, Wilma Francis Owens, all of Crockett, Texas, Freddie Harris of Houston, Texas, Arma Jean Woodruff of Ranger, Texas and Joyce Williams of Odessa, Texas; a host of other nieces and nephews.  She also leaves her Church family at Friendship Misionary Baptist Church and all her friends in Crockett, Texas, and Houston.
