Biographical Sketch for Delores Hardridge
Delores (Lois) Henry was born on May 28, 1926 in Freestone County, the 4th of 7 children to the late Ezekiel Henry and Stacie Manning, granddaughter of Sarah and Alf Manning and Jeff and Delphia Henry. She attended Owens Chapel and Butler Public Schools. Her early career as a waitress was short lived and she retired as a domestic worker where she worked some 30+ years for Steven and Beverly Dale and their family. She was a faithful member of St. John AME Church in Tulsa, OK until she moved away in 2008. She joined and worked diligently for many worthy organizations, Lucky 10 Club, Willing Workers Club, Heroines of Jericho in Oklahoma and Red Hats Society in Kentucky. Her mission for each organization was to help someone else and she was an excellent fundraiser and served tirelessly in many capacities. Her passion for travel took her to Jerusalem, Hawaii, and to every state in the union, where she met many people and stayed connected. She relished in the idea to work and have fun and live life to the fullest and took regular vacations and traveled some place new every year and sometimes returning to her favorite locations.
After graduating from High School she moved away to Corsicana, Texas and later to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she stayed for over 60 years before going to Louisville, Kentucky where she departed this life on March 10, 2016 at the Regis Woods Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Delores was united in holy matrimony to James Hardridge and to this union one child was born: Richard Allen Hardridge. She is survived by her son, Richard (Kenzella); 2 grandchildren Deanea K. LeFlore of Houston, Texas and William C. LeFlore of Louisville, Kentucky; one great granddaughter, Kenzleigh T. LeFlore; two sisters, Merdis Johnson and Juanita Durham and one brother, Benard Henry. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Ezekiel and Stacie Henry, three brothers, Tyree, Wilson and Alton Henry. She leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
