Celebrating The Life of Don Ray Hill

Don Ray Hill was born on August 1, 1957 in Hearne, Texas to Erma Yarbrough and Alma Hill. He was their first child.

Don was raised in Hearne, Texas and attended Hearne I.S.D.  He furthered his education by receiving a B.S. in Physical Education at Sam Houston State University. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma National Fraternity Incorporated and Texas High School Coaches Association.

He accepted Christ early in life. He attended Independent Baptist Church after he acknowledged his calling into the minister in 2004. He has been the proud pastor of Rose Hill Baptist Church for 12 years.

Don married Cledie LaNette Simpson on May 29, 1982. This union was blessed with two children, Jarrett Dwayne Hill and Marissa Dawn Hill.

He worked as a Teacher/Coach at Groveton I.S.D. for 19 years and Trinity I.S.D. for 16 years.

Don's hard working hands are now at rest. He passed away on March 12, 2016 in Lufkin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erma Yarbrough and Alma Hill; brother-in-law, Michael Wilson.

Those who will remember many cherished memories are: loving wife, Cledie L. Hill of Groveton, Texas; son, Jarrett Hill of Tyler, Texas; daughter, Marissa Hill; brothers,Orestes (Betty) Yarbrough of San Antonio, Texas, Alverick (Devorah) Yarbrough of Bryan, Texas; sister, Donnetta Wilson; grandchild, Janelle Hill; aunt, Thelma Drennan; uncle, Robert Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
