Obituary

Earnestine Roberts Miller was born on April 24, 1942 in Corsicana, Texas to Clyde T. Roberts and Christine King. She was the first of 16 siblings.

Earnestine attended elementary school in a one room schoolhouse with her brothers and sisters in Rice, Texas.  She attended high school in Ennis, Texas.  She would later further her education and become a Certified Food Service Manager where she worked in retail and with several nursing homes.  Earnestine retired from Seabreeze Nursing Home in 2010.

Earnestine accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Saint James  Baptist Church. Upon marriage, she moved her membership to Timothy Baptist Church.  She later became a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana, Texas where she served faithfully for many years in many different roles including as a choir member, youth bible study teacher and as the youth director. As an enduring servant in her walk with Christ, Earnestine received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. She later decided to move her membership to Johnson Memorial Church of God In Christ where she became an ordained minister. During her time at Johnson Memorial, she was in great demand as a guest speaker at numerous churches throughout the community.  In 1992 Earnestine moved to Houston, Texas to be closer to several of her children and grandchildren. There she joined Lakewood Church under pastor John Osteen.  She continued her service for Christ as leader for the Church information booth. As her health began to fail, Earnestine decided to move back to Corsicana in 2017 and became a member of Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church.

Earnestine volunteered as a one of Navarro County's 4-H leaders for many years.  She became a staunch advocate for many of the youth in the community as well as a volunteer working with underprivileged families in the County Extension Agency's Educational Nutrition Program.

In 1958 Earnestine married the late William Howard Taft Miller, Jr. (divorced.)  Five children were born to this union.
