Frankie Mae Washington was born to the late Frank and Catherine Washington on March 23, 1921 in the Tadmore community. Frankie was the oldest child and she loved and cherished her younger sister Johnnie. They looked out for each other and always had fond memories of their childhood. The two would later raise their daughters together and enjoy spending family time, sharing memories of their childhood and making new memories for their girls.  She was devastated by the loss of her sister Johnnie in April of 2015.

Frankie was a strong young lady and grew up with a passion for growing flowers.  She moved to Crockett, Texas early on where she worked and lived for the remainder of her life. She took in her grandmother and grandfather (the late Emanuel and Della Arledge) and kept them with her until their death.  Frankie married the late Rev. E. J. Jones whom she worked alongside at the church he founded known as Jones Chapel Baptist Church.  The two of them worked tirelessly in the church and the community and owned their own rental business.  The two also served on the City Council of Crockett.  Mrs. Jones went to school for nursing and became an ER Nurse at Houston County Hospital and later moved over to what was then known as Leisure Lodge Nursing home which later became Community Care Center of Crockett.

Mrs. Jones had a love for children and she and her husband were blessed to raise children whom she loved dearly.  She devoted her life to make sure that each had everything they needed and wanted. She was also a Girl Scout leader for Girl Scout Troop 489. She became "Jones" to the troop and they loved her as she did them, and she always had words of wisdom and encouragement for them.

Gardening was one of her favorite hobbies.  She worked in her garden and flowers willingly and endlessly.  She won several awards for Yard of the Year.  She believed in supporting civic and community events and was a member of the Sunday Morning Breakfast Club.  She also supported the Kennard Cemetery which had special meaning to her. As she would say "That's my roots".  During voting season she would go and pick up various members of the community to ensure that they were able to vote.

Mrs. Jones lived a full, eventful and happy life.  She loved hosting gatherings and her home became the familiar home for everyone during the 3 rd Sunday in August.  She opened her doors to those near and afar.  It didn't matter if you were a family member, a close friend or a friend of a friend.  You could always find good food and cheerful conversation at the "Jones" home. She and her late husband became Iconic members of the community and made a difference in the lives of those who came in contact with them.

When her neighbors moved in next door she developed a special bond. Johnnie and Dorothy Johnson became her Son and Daughter. And the two families grew closer and melded as one happy family. She then took on the name of "Granny Jones." She and Dorothy talked daily, sometimes 5 or more times per day. The loss of Dorothy was very hard for her.

Frankie was preceded in death by her Father and Mother Frank and Catherine Washington; her sister Johnnie Ola Teal (Jessie); her husband the late Rev. E. J.
