OBITUARY for GROVER LEE ROYAL, JR.
Grover Lee Royal, Jr. affectionately known as Puding, was born on June 4, 1941 in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, to the parents of Grover Lee Royal, Sr. and Lois Wallace. He was their first born child.
Grover was raised in Palestine, Texas and attended school at Banks Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High, and AM Story High School, after the 11th grade he enlisted into the United States Army on April 25, 1961 and was Honorably Discharged in 1963.
He accepted Christ as a child and united with Pilgrim Hill Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. D.W. Walker.
Grover married Eddie Pearl Barnes in Holy Matrimony. This union was blessed with four children.
Grover worked at Texas Power & Light, Presley Crook Pharmacy, and Joe Little - Oilfield.
Grover was known as the Resident Caregiver to some of the other residents (Miss Eula Dean, and Mr. FC) at Elkhart Oaks. He was always on the caring watch of the other residents and would often voice his opinion on many things. He made sure that Miss Eula was well taken care of at all times. He loved the Lord and his family. He was always excited about spending time with family. He enjoyed watching the old westerns, and he faithfully played the Texas Million and Lottery every week hoping that one day he would win big. He has finally hit the Jackpot, no more suffering no more pain. I'm sure he's sitting somewhere around GOD's throne in his overalls, with a cigarette lighter hidden in one of his pockets. He has his legs crossed while scratching his lottery tickets. Whomever fills the shoes as the Resident caregiver has some BIG shoes to fill.
Grover was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Lee Royal, Sr. & Lois Wallace; daughters, Debra Royal and Jacqueline Royal; grandson, Kenneth Jackson.
Those left to cherish many memories are: Son, Dwayne (Cynthia) Royal, Sr., Palestine, Texas; daughter, Ronda (James Morgan) Royal, Palestine, Texas; brother, Billy (Cecil) Royal, Houston, Texas; sister, Carolyn Davis, Palestine, Texas; two aunts, Ruby Wallace, Nacogdoches, Texas, Lottie Wallace, Flagstaff, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel (Yolanda) Gross, Sr., La'Dominique Johnson, Catevious (George) White, Semaj Dorsey, Dominique Royal, Fallon Royal, Jasmine (Terriance) Batts, Dwayne Royal, Jr.; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
