Necrology
Earthbound - October 6, 1936                                          Heaven Bound - November 6, 2015

Gwendolyn Ruth Bolden Lawson was the second of 6 children born to Fannie Ruth and Joe Tyler Bolden on October 6, 1936.  Austin was their home.

Gwen's schooling was Blackshear Elementary, Kealing Jr. High and Anderson High School.  Upon matriculation, she entered the workforce.  The medical field was her love and she became a Surgical Technician, which she worked as, in this field for over 25 years.

She met and married Andrew Lawson, an Air Force man.  The family traveled across the United States and beyond...from K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan to Okinawa, Japan.  After some time, she returned home to Austin, Texas and immediately started working in her church and for God's kingdom.  Gwen was always willing to help anyone  anywhere she met them. "Aunt Gwen" as she was fondly known, was known for her Big Heavy Purse. The purse had everything in it!
Whatever your ailment, she had a cure in that purse for it.

She was blessed with a very large family including a son, Reginald R. Lawson, 4 grandchildren, Tamektricia Lawson, Shante Lawson, Reginald Lawson II, and Devonte Lawson; 10 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Alphaye Washington, Ida Lois King, and Ruby Bolden.  There is a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gwen was loved by individuals all across the AME Church.  She will truly be missed!

Gwendolyn R. Lawson, a Worker for the Master...Who was not afraid!
