Helen Louise Owens, age 88, of Oakwood, Texas died September 21, 2016 in Greenbriar Nursing & Rehab Center, Palestine, Texas.
Interment following service in Oakwood Cemetery.

Helen Louise Smith Owens was born on December 23, 1927 in Tucker, Texas to Jehue and Beatrice Smith. She was the second child of ten children.
Helen was raised in Tucker, Texas and attended Greenbay Public Schools.
She accepted Christ early in life and joined Greenbay AME Church as a child, she later united with Henry Chapel AME Church.
Helen married Willie Jr. Owens in holy matrimony. This union was blessed with three children.
On September 21, 2016 in Palestine, Texas, Helen left this earth on the wings of angels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jehue & Beatrice Smith; grandson, Kealyne J. Durham; two brothers, George Smith, Jehue Smith, Jr.; Three sisters, Elmira Hoggs, Lillian Anderson and Espenola Smith.
Loving survivors: loving husband, Willie Jr. Owens of Oakwood, Texas; two sons, James Fred (Shirley) Alexander of Oakwood, Texas, Clifford Wayne (Helen) Owens of Huntsville, Texas; daughter, Patricia Owens Watkins of Oakwood, Texas; two brothers, Paul Smith of Palestine, James Smtih of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Sarah Smith and Rutha Mae (Carl) both of Houston, Texas, Minnie Lee (Henry) Jenkins of Tennessee Colony, Texas, Thelma Ricks of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends..
