Joe Earl Gipson was born on December 7, 1947 in Oakwood, Texas, to the parents of Joe Lee and Andrew Lee (Williams) Gipson. He was the sixth of nine children.

Joe attended school at St. Paul - Shiloh Public School, Oakwood, Texas.

He accepted Christ as a child and united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Oakwood, Texas. He was a life member.

On November 25, 2014 in Oakwood, Texas, Joe left this earth on the wings of angels. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Lee and Andrew Lee Gipson; son, Kelvin Gipson; sister, Jennivee Gipson.

Those left behind to remember sweet memories are:

Two daughters, Tracey Gipson and Rochelle Cotton, both of Houston, Texas; four brothers, Eugene Gipson, Johnny Clark and Betty Gipson, both of Houston, Texas, General Mexell Gipson, Eric & Vonceil Gipson, both of Oakwood, Texas; three sisters, Marjorie Clark, Tyler, Texas, Doris Nell Lucky, Bobbie Godfrey and Lawrence Williams, both of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
