On February 6, 1959, Joe Nathan Porter was born to the late Alfred Porter and Ethel Lee Bowers Porter of Freestone County.

Joe attended and completed his education at Booker T.. Washington. He then attended Job Corp in San Marcos where he received his Mechanic License. He also worked for BNSF for some years.

Joe departed this life on January 21, 2021 in Waco, Texas at Ascension Providence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ethel Porter, and brother, Robert Porter.

He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Angela Thornton of Lewisville, Texas; daughter Ashley McKinney of Waco, Texas; granddaughters, Desiree Haynes and Marley McKinney of Waco, Texas; five sisters, Kathy Jones of Teague, Texas, Gloria (William) Tinsley of Teague, Texas; betty Glasco and Billy Frank Porter of Dallas, Texas; Vonniemae Gibson of Los Angles, California; two special nieces, Jennifer Jones of Mansfield, Texas and Carla Porter of Teague, Texas. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
