Joel Auguster Jackson was born August 21, 1953 in Choctaw County, Alabama to Anthony and Annie Ruth Barney Jackson.

Joel was raised in Mt. Sterling Alabama.

He accepted Christ early in life and united with St. John C.M.E. Church. He later attended Morning Star Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas.

Joel married Linda Jackson, this union was blessed with three children. He had a special friend, Edna Payton, this union was blessed with two children.

He worked as a automotive mechanic.

On December 28, 2016 in Palestine, Texas, Joel left this earth on the Wings of Angels. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Annie Jackson; son, Joel Payton; three sisters, Milred James, Mary Dunn and Angela Rodger; two brothers, Albert D. Jackson and Anthony (Bird) Jackson; granddaughter, Tisheka Jackson.

Those remaining behind to cherish sweet memories: sons, Joseph Pope, Birmingham, Alabama, Walter (Cecila) Jackson, Lismon, Alabama; daughters, Seketha Caston of Lismon, Alabama, Joeann Jackson of Lisman, Alabama, Temeka Payton of Birmingham, Alabama and Teyowonnia Jackson, Palestine, Texas, Shilia Jackson, Melinda Jackson, both of Lismon, Alabama; brother, LeBaron Spencer, Demopolis, Alabama; four sisters, Bobbie R. Jackson, Ledoris Jackson, Josephine Jackson, Yoretha Jackson all of Butler, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild, DeonJae Jackson. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
