Joel Deleon Wilson was born on March 24, 1960 in Palestine, Texas to Davey and Alice Mae Wilson. He was their first child.

Joel was raised in Palestine, Texas and attended Westwood Schools in Palestine.

He accepted Christ early in life and united with Pine Hill Baptist Church, then Morning Star Baptist Church.

Joel was self-employed as a mechanic.

Joel passed away on March 13, 2023 at True Care Facility. He was preceded in death by his father, Davey Wilson; mother, Alice Mae Wilson; grandfathers, L.W. Wilson, Dave Calhoun; grandmothers, Lucy Calhoun, Carlean Clewis Wilson; brothers, Jonathan Wilson, Michael Birdow

Loving survivors: three sons, Sirmont Vann, Palestine, Texas, Ryan Vann, Tyler, Texas, Shawn Wilson (Ariana) Abilene, Texas; daughter, Tamara Daughtery, San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Gerald W. Wilson, Palestine, Texas, Jeffery W. Wilson (LaVonda), Elkhart, Texas, Curtis Bass (Tammy), Palestine, Texas; sister, Denese R. Polley, Palestine, Texas; uncles, Willie B. Wilson, Charles R. Calhoun, Leonard Calhoun, Anthony C. Calhoun II; aunts, Marion Calhoun, Vassie Thomas, Stella Warren, Lucy Calhoun Edwards; 10 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
