Laverne
Lacy
Jun 9, 1942 — Jul 23, 2026
Palestine
Lavern Lacy was born on June 9, 1942, in Elkhart, Texas, to Reuben White and Jewell Lean (Davis) White. She was raised in the Beulah Community, where she learned the values of faith, family, and service that shaped her life. Lavern received her education at Elkhart Henry High School.
Lavern worked for Memorial Hospital, Medi‑Vac and later for Bealls Corporation as a Quality Control Specialist, dedicating numerous years to her profession with excellence and commitment. She lived a life anchored in faith, serving faithfully at Beulah Baptist Church. Lavern was a devoted member of the choir, served on the kitchen committee, acted as church historian, and lovingly welcomed visitors with acknowledgements and closing remarks. Even after moving to Jacksonville, Texas, she continued to drive back to Beulah Baptist Church until her health no longer allowed—an enduring testament to her devotion.
On April 17, 1982, Lavern married Veo Lacy Jr. in Elkhart, Texas, and together they built a life grounded in love, family, and faith.
On July 23, 2026, Lavern departed this earth in Houston, Texas, entering her eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her parents, Reuben White and Jewell Lean (Davis) White; husband, Veo Lacy Jr.; daughter, Pamela Jackson; brother, Jerome McGriff; sisters, Brenda White Lewis and Jeanette Kennedy; and son‑in‑law, Charles Ray Hamlett.
Lavern leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Adrian Lacy and Tony Morrison; daughters, Sheila Morrison, Sandra Jackson (David) Bell, Paula Jackson Hamlett, and Vickie Jackson (LaDell) Udoh; stepchildren, Stephony Craig Lacy, Ruby Lacy Slaughter, and Rhonda Lacy; sisters, Helen (Robert) Montgomery, Laura (James) Jones, and Gloria Gaddis; aunt, Zella Davis; 12 grandchildren; 18 great‑grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Lavern's life was marked by service, strength, and steadfast faith. Her legacy lives on in the hearts she touched, the family she loved, and the church she served with unwavering devotion.
