Sis. Leila Henderson was born on March 23, 1932 in Palestine, Texas to Louis and Ollie E. Goree Hollie. She was the eighth of 11 children.
Leila was raised in Palestine and attended school in Palestine, Texas.
She accepted Christ early in life and united with Smith Chapel Church of God in Christ.
She married Alfred Henderson. This union was blessed with five children.
Leila worked for Cartmell Nursing Home.
On Sunday, July 19, 2015 in Tyler, Texas, Leila left this earth on the Wings of Angels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Ollie Holie; husband, Alfred Henderson; two daughters, Betthy Smith and Cynthia Brown; seven brothers and sisters, Jerry Henderson, Collie Hollie, Marvinelle Hollie, Mertizee Green, Lenara Gaston, Erline Jiles, Ostell Hollie and Charles Hollie.
Those left with loving memories: sons, Derrick Henderson (Iranna Orr), Randall (Michell) Henderson, Gary (Mary) Henderson, Dallas, Texas, Michael (Dianne) Henderson, Columbia South Carolina; daughter, Marilyn Washington, San Antonio, Texas; brother, Joe Hollie, Buffalo, New York; sisters, Niaomi Brown and Lurlie Roberson, both of Buffalo, New York; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
