Lynell Brooks was born on August 16, 1941 in Wyard, Arkansas to John Albert and Rebecca S. Kidd Brooks, Sr. He was their fourth of six children.

Lynell was raised in St. Louis, Missouri and attended LVR Smith Elementary in St. Louis, MO, Berkley High School in Berkley, CA. and UCLA.

He was a Baptist.

Lynell joined the U.S. Army in 1964 and was Honorably Discharged in 1966.  He was a welder and production worker. He was also a truck driver.

On May 11, 2016 in Palestine, Texas, Lynell left this earth on the wings of Angels. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca Kidd and John Brooks, Sr.; granddaughter, Desiree Brown; grandson, Gavin Holleman; brothers, RC Brooks, Rodney Brooks and John Brooks; brothers-in-law, Jessie Hawkins and Robert Morgan.

A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
