Marie was raised in Palestine, Texas and attended Flint Hill Elementary and A.M. Story High School in Palestine.

She accepted Christ early in life and united with New Bethel Baptist Church in Houston, later she joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Palestine where she served as a choir member.

Marie married Joseph Albert Lemon in Holy Matrimony.

On October 20, 2017 in Shenandoah, Texas, Marie left this earth on the Wings of Angels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ella Gray, Sr.; Siblings, Elouise Gray, Helen Linicomn, Velma Perro, Gabe Gray, Clarence Gray, Jr. and Mack Gray.

Marie will always be remembered in the hearts of those who love her: husband, Joseph Lemon, Palestine, Texas; two sons, Joseph A. Lemon, Jr., Sugarland, Texas and Lendell Hamilton of Woodland, Texas; five daughters, Linda Faye Brown, Palestine, Texas, Brenda (Donnie) Moore, Shonda (Martin) Donald, Lisa Smith and Carolyn (Jeffery) Marshall, all of Houston, Texas; 20 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
