Mozell Daughtery was born Mattie Mozell Williams, the third of eight children, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jackson and Birda Mae (Hamilton) Williams on December 8, 1929 in Montalba, Texas.

Education:  Mozell attended school in the Providence Community.

Christian Faith:  She united with the Providence Church of Montalba, Texas at an early age.  In later years, she held the position of Sunday School Superintendent under the leadership of Pastor Jessie Johnson.  As her health began to fail, the 13-mile drive seemed too much for her.  She joined Morning Star Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Donald R. Barrett, where she remained a faithful member enjoying Sunday School until her death.

Employment:  Westwood Independent School District (Food Service)

Mrs. Daughtery loved to bake!  She was known for her Teacakes, pound and German chocolate cakes.  We think she loved fishing more than baking.  She was an avid fisherman and could stay on a bank from sun up until sundown.  When her children came home to visit, she would always have fish that she froze in the creek's water so the fish would be fresh, just like she caught them.

Marriage:  In Tuxedo, Texas, on March 9, 1948, Mozell Williams married John Daughtery, Jr., and into this union, eight children were born.

Demise:  On the morning of March 17, 2018 at 7:40 AM, in Palestine, Texas, the Angel of Silence came and relieved Mozell from all her pain and suffering, thus she departed these mundane shores.  She was very vocal about being tired and ready to go to her Heavenly Home.  Those were her wishes, "Do not resuscitate" and "God's Promise!

Preceding her in death:  Her parents, the late Jackson and Birda Williams; five brothers, Waymond, Herman, Virgil, Tommy and Homer Williams.

Mattie Mozell Williams Daughtery leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Billy Daughtery of Fort Worth, Texas; Homer Daughtery of Montalba, Texas, Richard Daughtery of Palestine, Texas and Leonard Daughtery of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Vera Outley and Edna Ellis of Houston, Texas, Peggy Wynn, Jacqueline Thomas of Palestine, Texas; one sister, Vernell Chavers of Denton, Texas; one brother, Climmon Williams of Fort Worth, Texas and a very special neighbor, Thomas Edwards.
