McClellan Calhoun, Sr. was born on April 13 , 1953 in Palestine, Texas to Dave Crockett and Lucy Vee Brown Calhoun.  He was the seventh of 13 children.

McClellan was raised in Palestine, Texas and attended Palestine Schools. He also went to Hunts Truck Driving School.

He married Annie Mae Edwards and to this union four children were born.

McClellan was a truck driver before going to the oilfield, he then became unable to work because of his health failure.

On January 31 , 2018 in Dallas, Texas, McClellan's hardworking hands were called to rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave Crockett and Lucy Vee Calhoun; daughter, Crystal Henry; brothers, David Lee Calhoun, John Lee Calhoun, David Lee Calhoun, Jr.; sisters, Anna Oarman, Ann Boatwright, Alice Mae Calhoun-Wilson, Gloria Mae Calhoun; uncles, Lerone Calhoun, L.D. Calhoun, George Wilson; aunts, Willie Mae Cook, Cozy Bell Gipson, Ruby Calhoun Wilson.

Loving survivors: sons, McClellan (Shameka) Calhoun, Jr., Terrill Calhoun, both of Palestine, Texas; daughters, Manica (Reginald) Demar, Houston, Texas, NaToya Calhoun, Palestine, Texas and Donita (Traci) Bailey, Tyler, Texas; brothers, Jessie C Calhoun, Sammie L. Calhoun, both of Dallas, Texas, Charles R. Calhoun, Nacogdoches, Texas, Rufus Calhoun, Leonard M. Calhoun and Anthony B. Calhoun, all of Palestine, Texas; sisters, Stella J. Warren, Palestine, Texas, Vassie L. Thomas, Frankston, Texas, Sarah Carwell, Palestine, Texas, Lucy L. Edwards, Desoto, Texas; 21 grandchildren; two great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
