Melvin Love, Jr was born on May 19, 1946 in Crockett, Texas to Reed A. Love and Ethel Love. He was the second child born to that union.

Melvin was raised in the Pine Grove Community and attended Ralph Bunche High School.

Melvin accepted Christ early in life and united with Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Melvin joined the United States Army, worked at Travelquest, TDC and TYC.

Melvin married Carrie Whiting and later married Barbara Barton.

On May 27, 2018 in Houston, Texas, Melvin Love, Jr. left this earth on the Wings of Angels. He was preceded in death by Willie Love, Odess Love, Wesley Hawkins, Nazarene Kinger, Dorothy Johnson, Mary Spence, Dorothy Wallace and Jane (Billy) Hawkins and Dennis (Anessa) McMillan.
