Melvya Delores Johnson, daughter of the late Lewis Joe Johnson Sr., Frankie Mae King Johnson Lee, was born January 4, 1956 in Teague, Texas.

Melvya Johnson moved to Los Angeles, CA with her family in 1958 where she received all her formal education and graduated from Crenshaw High School.  She then started her own family with her daughter in 1974 and as a single mom Melvya understood early the importance of having a firm spiritual foundation in her dedicated membership at Providence Missionary Baptist Church and later at Avenue Christian Love Baptist Church.

Melvya was not only a dedicated mother she was also a dedicated employee as she served as a Financial Aid Clerk at University of Southern California for over 15 years.  Only later to advance her career to work as a Claim Adjustment Clerk for CNA Insurance Company for many years.  While being a full-time mother and employee Melvya was also passionate about holding memberships with multiple organizations that lead efforts of networking as well as giving back to the communities and under privileged youth.

Melvya enjoyed social gathers with family and friends.  She was always the life of any gathering with her loud bold sense of humor that would catch the attention of anyone in the room.  Her personality gifted her with several friendships that stood the test of times and that lasted for over 46 years.   She will be thought of frequently and missed dearly by family and her lifelong friends.

Melvya is preceded in death by her Father (biological) Lewis Joe Johnson Sr., her Mother Frankie Mae King Johnson Lee,  her Father (Step-Father) Harold Herman Lee Jr., her sisters: Mercie Henderson, Mary Johnson, Beverly Poole, and Suzy Lee, brothers: Samuel Johnson, and Lewis Randle.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories and loud sense of humor: Child – Cymel Ervy of Rockwall, Tx., brothers: Lewis "Tex" Johnson Jr. of Los Angeles, CA., Danny Johnson (Dorthy) of Mexia, TX., Albert Randle Arlington, TX., Eric Lee of Lancaster, CA., sisters: Ruth Johnson of Teague, TX., Wanda Rice (Edward) of Teague, TX., Cynthia Lee of Lancaster, CA., Cynthia Quade of Gardena, CA., Grandchildren: Elijah Gutierrez of Huntington Beach, CA., Uriah Nwanju of Rockwall, TX.: as well as a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly
