Merline Day was born on February 15, 1936 in Montalba, Texas, to William and Samantha (Thomas) Day. She was the sixth of 20 children.

Merline was raised in Providence and attended school at Providence Elementary and Massey Lake High School.

She accepted Christ early in life and united with Providence Baptist Church. She was a life member.

On June 27, 2016 , Merline left this earth on the Wings of Angels. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Samantha Day; siblings, Leroy Day, Terry C. Day, William T. Day, Shirley Spencer, Quince Day, Charlie Day, Mary Martin, Bobby Day, Ruby Benson and three in infancy.

Loving survivors: sons, Henry Day and Rodney Day (Gylia Hicks) of Palestine, Texas, Craig Dawson of Montalba, Texas; daughters, Krystal Benson of Houston, Texas; brothers, Lonnie Day of Palestine, Texas, Larry Day, Edward (Ruby) Day, Herbert (Faye) Day, all of Montalba, Texas; sisters, Doris Earl of Palestine, Texas, Heron Jean (Tommy) Taylor of Montalba, Texas, Minnie Day of Garland, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
