A Life Lived with Love
"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die..." Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
May 28, 1940 God graced Eldrige and Mary Lee Stubblefield with their fourth child, a baby girl. They named her Mittie Beatrice Stubblefield. She would later be called "Tootie." She attended school in Trinity, Texas. Later in life, she moved to Houston where she stayed for many years before moving back to her hometown of Trinity, Texas.
"I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is a day: the night cometh when no man can work." John 9:4
Mittie "Tootie" united with Mary's Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Casey Jones. She served faithfully in the church in many areas. But her passion was working with the youth. For many years, she served as matron over the youth of Mary's Chapel Baptist Church and the Trinity Community Youth Choir. Sis. Dominique worked diligently at the Union Prairie Baptist Church in the choir, on the usher board and other ministries in the church under the leadership of her late husband, Rev. S. R. Dominique, Sr. After her husband passed, Sis. Dominique made the difficult choice to search for another church home because she could no longer make the drive to Crockett. After praying, she joined Bowen Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of her son, Rev. S. R. Dominique, Jr. She remained a member of Bowen Pilgrim Baptist Church until her earthly graduation. She also worked for Trinity Independent School District for many years. As she continuously strived to be the woman that God called her to be, she faithfully gave of herself in many areas of the church and in the community.
"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her..." Proverbs 31:10
The progression of life would continue as God navigated the circumstances and ordered the steps of young Mittie "Tootie". On December 12, 1960, she met the love of her life, Samuel Roy Dominique, Sr. (Deceased). Later in their marriage, her husband would accept the call of Christ and enter gospel preaching ministry. Sis. Dominique, as she was known to the church community, supported and covered her husband as a pastor's wife along with mentoring many young pastors' wives at Middle Branch Baptist Church, Little Rock Baptist Church (9 years and Union Prairie Baptist Church (26 years). Though being a pastor's wife is not an easy role, she walked in that role with grace. For forty-six (46) years, Rev. and Sis. Dominique, Sr., shared in a journey of Happily Ever After that evolved into something greater than themselves. Their union and ministry would touch, influence and change cities and communities.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you..."John 14:27
Sis. Dominique "Tootie" lived a life that will be remembered by many. Her unselfish service to family, church and whoever needed her help will be forever sketched into our hearts and minds.
On October 18, 2017, Heaven's gates opened and received another strong soldier. As she joined the great cloud of witnesses" and now awaits her crown of glory. With open arms and tears of joy, her husband, Rev. S. R. Dominique, Sr. welcomed her along with her daughter, Beatrice Foster and many other family members and friends.
