Sammie Ree Brooks was born March 11, 1946 in Palestine, Texas to Odell Holmes and Lucille Davis. She was one of five children born to this union.
Sammie Ree was raised in Palestine, Texas and attended A.M. Story High School with the class of 1964. She later attended Sweatt Beauty College in Houston, Texas.
Sammie Ree accepted Christ early in life and united with Grant Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Sammie Ree married Waldo Brown, Sr., and this union was blessed with four children. She later married Lynell Brooks.
Sammie Ree worked as a CNA at Greenbriar Nursing Home.
On June 30, 2018 in Palestine, Texas, Sammie Ree was called to rest. She was preceded in death by her parents: Odell Holmes and Lucille Davis; Husband: Lynell Brooks; Daughter: Lois Anita Brown; Granddaughter: Desiree Brown; Grandson: Gavin Holloman; Brother: Herman Davis, Sr.
Sammie Ree leaves to cherish her precious memories; Two Sons: Waldo (Cynthia) Brown, Jr of Palestine, Texas and Sammie Edgar (Felisha) Brown of Fort Worth, Texas; Daughter: Roshanda Lucille Brown of Palestine, Texas; Sister: Lola "Baby Doll" Lincoln of Palestine, Texas; Eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
