William Clarence Carroll was the ninth child of Green (Munsey) Carroll, Sr. and Callie Stratford-Carroll. He was born on July 20, 1940 in Buffalo, Freestone County, Texas. He grew up on a farm with his eight siblings, learning to do all the necessary chores in keeping a farm running smoothly.

W.C., as he was affectionately known by his closest relatives, attended elementary school at Avant School, which was a part of the Dew Independent School District before it closed.  Upon completion of the eight grade, he attended Booker T. Washington High School in Teague, Texas, where he graduated in 1961.

At an early age, W.C. accepted Crist as his Lord and Savior and became a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, which is located in the Post Oak Community.  He attended church faithfully with his family until he left the area to attend college at Prairie View A&M University.  While at Prairie View A&M, he majored in agriculture concentrating on the science and hoping to become a veterinarian and open his own clinic.

In 1967 he married Alice Faye Johnson, who was from Teague, Texas and moved to Houston to began a career with Exxon as a Service Station Dealer.  He operated this business for many years before deciding to open an automotive repair shop. After a number of years in the automotive repair business, he decided to retire.

In his spare time, he loved playing cards and dominoes.  Also, he loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the large family reunions, when all the extended family members were together.

W.C. transitioned from this life Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Harbor Hospice in Houston, Texas with his family by his side.
