Willie Hayward Cooks "Slick" was born on July 6, 1937 in Winona, Texas to Eulisse Cooks and Flora Lee Jackson . He was the first of eight children.
He accepted Christ early in life and united with Lone Star Church.
He was raised in Winona Community and attended Winona Public School.
Willie married LeeBell Titus on June 13, 1961. This union was blessed with six children.
He worked in construction.
Willie passed away on January 11, 2016 in Oakwood, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Eulisse Cooks; mother, Flora Lee Jackson; son, Willie Earl Cooks; two brothers, Melvin Cooks and Cookie Cooks; two sisters, Evelyn Medlock and Selestine Medlock.
Those left behind to remember sweet memories are: Wife, LeeBell Titus, Oakwood, Texas; three sons, Jerry (Ronnika) Cooks, Oakwood, Texas, Donald Cooks and Sakenia Beaty, Dallas, Texas, Reginald Cooks, Mexia, Texas; two daughters, Denise Cooks and Tommy Busby, Mexia, Texas, Brenda (Chester) Bailey, Oakwood, Texas; two brothers, Robert Cooks, Dallas, Texas, Hullus Cooks, DeSoto, Texas; sister, Esther Medlock, Dallas, Texas; 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
