Ze'Nitta Newman McKnight was born on November 8, 1956, in Crockett, Texas, to Willie "Ben" Newman Jr. and Della Marshall Newman. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and devoted member throughout her life. Growing up, she served as an usher, sang in the choir, and most recently was an active member of the Shepherd's Care Ministry.

Ze'Nitta attended Crockett High School, where she served as head cheerleader. She graduated with the Class of 1975 and was loved by her classmates and friends. She later attended Henderson County Junior College, where she was a member of the drill team, and continued her education at Lamar University.

As an adult, Ze'Nitta worked for many years at Texas Instruments in Stafford, Texas. She later became an employee of the Crockett State School and, when it closed, continued her career at the Lufkin State School, where she served faithfully for many years.

On June 15, 1985, she was united in holy matrimony to Bobby Ray McKnight. A dedicated servant to her community, Ze'Nitta became a lifetime member of the Juneteenth Committee and proudly served as Parade Chairperson.

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, Ze'Nitta heard her Father's gentle whisper and was ushered into her heavenly home to rest eternally in His presence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Della Newman.

Those left to cherish her precious memories include her siblings: Willie A. Newman (Fannie), Cecelia Newman Carr (Arthur), Felicia Newman, Ricky Newman (Nicole), and Sonya Newman Dickerson; aunts, Rosie Jean Person and Helen Connolly (Tom); uncles, Elder James "Bubba" Newman (Mary), Issac "Tim" Newman (Sylvia), and Pastor Michael Newman (Linda); special nephews, Alfred Newman (Tiffany) and Jerry Taylor Jr.; special niece, Zekea Houston; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
